What are geocells?

Challenging foundations within highway and rail corridors are common and can lead to deep and costly treatments without geosynthetics. global Synthetics has a wide range of high strength and durable geogrid/geocomposite products (made from polypropylene (PP) or polyester (PET)) for stabilizing roadbeds over soft and swollen foundations and for reinforcing structural layers of road and railroad assets. Geogrid reinforcement provides interlocking with gravel, rock and ballast materials to limit lateral movement of the overlying structural layers and can reduce depths by up to 30% in most cases.

Luyuan geocells are geosynthetics made of polypropylene, polyethylene or polyester. They are used in a variety of civil engineering related applications to provide ground reinforcement.

Geocells are made from extruded, woven or welded polymers to form open-cell products with varying strength, strain and load-bearing capacity for soil reinforcement applications.

1. Uniaxial Geocells

The High Performance Geogrid series is an engineered product for short and long term soil reinforcement applications. The products are woven for strength in both the long direction of the roll (commonly referred to as machine direction - mD) and in the transverse direction (commonly referred to as transverse direction - CD). Typically, the strength of the product is dominant in one direction of the roll (usually mD) and strong enough in the other direction of the fabric (usually CD) so that the fiber size is stable and the roll can be easily unwound.

In soil reinforcement applications, the use of geocells can impart significant tensile strength to the soil. Soil tension is very weak. The use of soil reinforcement techniques has proven to be a very cost effective construction method.

2.Biaxial geocells

In pavement base reinforcement applications, the design intent is to increase the load-bearing capacity of the existing roadbed by including one or more layers of geogrid on top. The inclusion of biaxial geogrids typically allows for a reduction in granular subgrade thickness.

In some cases, it may be necessary to increase the service life of the pavement by including a geogrid that fixes the depth of the pavement.

3.Asphalt Geocells

Vehicle traffic loads on asphalt and concrete pavements, including temperature changes, can impose higher stresses/strains on the pavement, leading to the development and propagation of reflective cracks. The primary function of asphalt geogrids in the construction and rehabilitation of road pavements is to reduce the amount of cracking in the new asphalt layer. In addition, it can provide a barrier to prevent top-down water from entering the subgrade and/or roadbed.

4.Common applications of geocells are as follows.

Foundation/roadbed and track ballast reinforcement

Construction of unpaved and paved roads

Geomembrane Liners for Hydroelectric Power Plants

In a world where "going green" is the cool thing to do, harnessing water power in the form of hydroelectricity is the largest source of clean, renewable energy available today. Hydroelectric power is reported to account for 52% of renewable energy generation in the U.S. and 7% of total electricity generation, and failure to achieve reliable and consistent water flow could leave millions of people stranded. The various types of hydroelectric plants in use today each have their own unique geomembrane uses to assist in the protection and delivery of water within their systems, helping to more efficiently provide green energy to the public.   Impoundment The most common form of hydropower generation is the impoundment behind a dam. The reservoir created by the dam is the key to this system. This harnessed water flows through a turbine and connects to a generator, which in turn generates electricity and connects to the consumer. Containing as much water as possible and directing...

What is the Basic Principle of a Geocell?

The reason why the geocell has excellent functions and has attracted the attention of the engineering community, we should also start with its basic principles. When describing its principle in foreign literature, it is called "a honeycomb three-dimensional confinement system, which can significantly improve the performance of ordinary filling materials in load-bearing and pest control applications in a large range." Its key principle is three-dimensional confinement. As a   Geocell Manufacturer , share with you. Geocell For Slope Protection Everyone knows that when a car is driving on the desert, it will press two deep tracks, the pressed part sinks deeply, and the two sides of the track will bulge high. If the vehicle behind continues to advance along the rut, the sinking part will sink further, and the bulging part will bulge further, until the bulging part hits the chassis of the car, and the sinking rut buries most of the wheels, making it impossible to move forward. The...

Geo Liners for Decorative Ponds

Geo liners for decorative ponds help to enhance the beauty and value of your property. Whether the pond will be for aesthetics, attracting wildlife, fishing, or lacing up your skates in the winter; there are many factors to consider when designing and building your dream pond.   Area and Depth Depending on the climate and intended use of your constructed pond, depth may be more of a factor than most people realize. If the pond will be constructed in a climate with four seasons and is intended to maintain fish stock; certain areas, depths, and slopes are suggested to allow aquatic life to thrive. For a vibrant fish population or cool swimming hole, a minimum pond area of 1/2 to 1 acre is recommended, with as much as the pond as possible reaching a depth of 15 feet and side slopes at 1:3 for fish habitat and 1:4 for swimming access. This combination of depth and relatively steep side slopes help reduce aquatic plant growth. An irregular shoreline is also helpful for fishery habitat....
